Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin! This is Carla's first, and she's doing it without benefit of notes (and we know how good her memory is!)  So cut her some slack...it will get better!! Find out who our upcoming speakers are, what we covered in today's meeting and any other scheduled events.

This week's program
President Carla welcomed club members and called the September 1st meeting to order at 12:02 pm.  The meeting was held via Zoom.
President Carla introduced a guest, Dave Kinsey, a past district governor, who has now relocated to Flagstaff.  Carla asked if anyone had a confession to make, and seeing none, asked  PDG Tonya if she had had a birthday recently.  She had, and she and Steve had celebrated by having an outdoor meal at Josephine's. Hoppy then confessed to having celebrated an anniversary - his ____.  Then Kimberly confessed to an anniversary as well, and since her husband is currently in Florida, she celebrated with neighborhood friends. Carla asked everyone to update their member profile information so that when she pulled a report for the month the information was complete. Congratulations all!!
Past President Eric Walden gave an update on the Flagstaff Rotary Foundation, indicating that the balance of funds in the Endowment is $89,600.
PDG Tonya gave an update on the Win!Win!Win! fundraiser.  We are off to a great start, and have one more week to bring it home.  Tonya will pick up certificates if you ask her to.  Let's get out and support the local business community, and the Navajo Water Project.
President Carla then turned the meeting over to Steve Peru to introduce our Speaker Mike Penca, the Superintendent of Schools for the Flagstaff Unified School District.
Dr. Penca spoke at length about how the school district, teachers and children have been adapting to the new normal in the Covid 19 era. Questions took us to the end of the meeting.
Steve Peru announced that our next regular meeting would be September 15, 2020, and our scheduled speaker will be Mike Marlow, NAU Vice President of Athletics.
Guest David reminded President Carla that the word had just come down from Rotary International that Africa had been certified wild polio virus free.  This is a BIG DEAL!!
President Carla then asked us all to say the Four Way Test of the things we Think, Say and Do. The meeting was adjourned at 1:02 pm, so ending another regular meeting of the Flagstaff Rotary Club.
