Welcome to another issue of our club bulletin. Find out who our upcoming speakers will be, what we covered in today's meeting and any other scheduled events.

15 members, the District Governor, our Assistant District Governor, 4 guests and 1 visiting Rotarian joined us today.
This week's program
President Jeff called the 2nd meeting of the Rotary year to order at 12:04.  The Pledge was led by Steve Cervantes.  Hoppy led us in 2 enthusiastic verses of Viva le Rotary!  In addition to our visiting Assistant Governor Paul Ferris and District Governor David Simmer, we welcomed former member and past-President Paul Wagner and Mike Williams a former member of Rotary in Wenatchee WA and Williams AZ, who has retired to Flagstaff, as guests, as well as Phoenix West Past President Sandy Petersen, e-club member Steve Cervantes, and Nathan Watts, new Pastor of the First Congregational Church.

After an impressive introduction by AG Paul, DG David began by presenting Michael Casey with a pin and certificate as the Flagstaff Rotary representative of this year’s Rotary theme “Rotary Connects the World.”  Congratulations Michael!  He also presented Lee with a “Paul Harris plus one” pin.  Unfortunately, Lee’s phone chose to ring at an inopportune time, but he cheerfully paid a $20 fine.  Thank you for both contributions Lee!

Together we see a world where people unite, and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.  Why are you in Rotary?  Rotary is an international organization that helps take care of the world’s biggest problems.  Interact, Rotoract and Rotary work together, each with different strengths, to accomplish Rotary’s mission around the world and at home.  85% of member join to serve their local communities.  Unfortunately, 50% of new members leave within 2 years of joining, because we as Clubs fail to live up to the commitments we make to new members.  Treat members like our customers, and we see benefits to ourselves as better leaders and friends, as well as working better together.

Mike Hosking announced the next social, Thursday, July 18, 5pm, on the patio at Your Pie.  Carla passed around sign ups for Rotary shirts and asked everyone to please remember to RSVP for the Saturday, August 10 service project at Camp Colton.

Kim led us in the 4 Way Test, and President Jeff adjourned the meeting at 1:02.  We then went to the parking lot for a photo with DG David’s Rotary car!

The next meeting is Tuesday, August 6.
