President Jeff called the 10th meeting of the year to order at 12:03.  The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Vaughan, looking quite dapper in a jacket and tie today.  Hoppy led us in a verse of America, “Land of the Pilgrim’s pride!”

ROTARY MINUTE:  Eric Walden’s Rotary moment focused on peace and giving.  He told us that the US is the world’s most generous nation.  Several of the largest charities in the country are represented in the Flagstaff Rotary Club:  United Way, the Salvation Army, and the American Red Cross.

PROGRAM:  Steve Peru introduced Flagstaff Rotary’s very own Captain Jeremy Baker of the Salvation Army as our speaker.  Before beginning his presentation, Jeremy announced that he and his wife Brittney will be welcoming their new son in March!  The Red Kettle Program began in San Francisco in 1891 and provided the means to serve Christmas dinner to 1000.  In Flagstaff today, it provides 20 – 40% of the annual budget!  Have you ever seen a Christmas movie that did not have a Red Kettle in in somewhere???  This year they were able to provide 200 Thanksgiving food boxes, to Flagstaff and Tuba City residents.  They will also have an Angel tree at the Mall, as well as an Adopt a Family for the holidays.
Flagstaff Rotary will be staffing the Red Kettle at Sam’s Club on Saturday, December 15, from 10am – 6pm.  Check your email for sign up details.  Flagstaff Rotary is also adopting a family.  Once again….watch your email.
Eric led us in the 4 Way Test, and the meeting was adjourned at 12:50.

Our next meeting is December 4, with Brian Klimoski from the National Weather Service as our speaker. The time for this meeting (December 4) has been changed to 12:15, this meeting only.

For those of you who did not attend the NAU football game last Saturday, not only did you miss out on fun with your fellow Flagstaff Rotarians, but you missed our NAU Lumberjacks close out the season with an impressive win over University of North Dakota!
