Disaster Cycle Services, Preparedness and Health & Safety service (such as CPR and lifesaving classes), Blood Service, service to the armed forced and international NGO’s are supported by the Red Cross.
Disaster Services is the primary focus for Northern Az.  The Disaster Cycle includes Prepare, Respond, and Recover phases.
PREPARE: although COVID has reduced the activities this past year, preparedness activities include free smoke detector installations, disaster preparedness education for various ages, and for different groups such as business, schools, houses of worship, and other nonprofits.
RESPOND: Fire and flood activity have been the most prevalent disasters here in the county.  The Museum fire, Hopi, Navajo, and Supai nations winter storms at Navajo, and Grand Canyon, and tinder fire over by Happy Jack all were supported with a Red Cross presence.
RECOVER: The Red Cross also provides emergency responses for home fires (ST assistance over the initial shock).
There have been changes this past year due to COVID. Some programs are on hold, meetings are now all virtual. The Respond and Recover activities are using more non-congregant shelters such as hotel rooms vs gymnasiums. Congregate shelters that are used, now have a lower density of client and cots to reduce COVID risk. Case work and some emergency operations work is virtual.
Wrap up:
Book ‘Dog Loves books’ will be donated to Family food bank center reading room.
The meeting concluded with the Four Way test with Meredith Potts.    Time adjourned 1pm.
