Rotary Club of Flagstaff
 Meeting Information

August 6, 2024 Newsletter

We had 10 members in house, 2 guests, and 2 Visiting Rotarians.  Dale and Jan Grey, from Scottsdale, are up in Flagstaff for the month of August!  Lee R introduced Charles Sewell, a golfer from our event last week.  Eric H introduced a prospective member from the CCC.

The thought of the day was from Aesop's The Lion and the Mouse.
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."

Rotary Moment - August is Membership and New Club Development Month.  A quote from Paul Harris:  "Rotary changes us and those we serve.  I believe we can change the world one life at a time."

Golf Results!
Thom announced the golf event raised $15,248 this year!  Our partner Flagstaff Symphony and the club will each receive $7,624.  There were 123 golfers!  11 gold sponsors, 3 silver sponsors, 3 Bronze sponsors and 10 Hole Sponsors.
Thank you to all the Rotarians who worked on this by volunteering, providing silent auction items, golfing, sponsoring, and a hosting fabulous party - Thom VH, Millie A, Steve Cervantes, Mike C, Dino D, Eric H, Hoppy H, Richard L, Maria M, Billie M, Lee R, Tasha V, Paul W, Tonya W, and Eric W.

Survey Results!

We will continue to meet at noon.

We will be leaving The Bluffs date TBD.  We have 3 options currently. 2 would cause us to change our meeting date from Tuesday to Fridays at noon.  1 would allow us to continue meeting on Tuesdays.  All of the options will allow the member to decide if they want to eat lunch or not.

Service and Socials are a high priority.

Organization needs!
We are in a bind.  We still have openings for next year's board.  We don't have a Rotary club if we don't have a Secretary and Treasurer.  Contact President Laura to volunteer starting in July.
  • The Secretary would be responsible for attending the club executive meetings and writing up the notes.
  • The Treasurer is responsible for presenting the FS to the executive team.  We are looking to pay a bookkeeper to keep the books.
  • The Membership Chair is responsible for organizing our efforts to attract new members and leading the initiation ceremony.
  • The Meeting newsletter chair is responsible for this document - attending the meeting and communicating with the club on what happened at the meetings.
