Welcome to another issue of our newsletter! Find out who our upcoming speakers are, what we covered in this week's meeting and any other scheduled events.

We met in person on July 1st with 11 members in house.  Visiting Rotarian Dorothy Dell'Orefice also attended.  She is a member of the Porto Penasco Rotary club in Mexico.  She also has a house here in Flagstaff - we hope to see her often this summer.

We also had the lovely Sue Wagner visiting today.

Past President Eric Walden  called the 1st meeting of the 25-26 Rotary year in order.  The Pledge of Allegiance was led by new member Max Wallace.  Eric led the club in a moment of silent reflection for hope for sustained peace throughout the world.

President Mike Williams announced the 1Q invoices have been sent out.  Please pay promptly.

Happy 4th of JULY!  Watch Hamilton, or the old movie musical 1776 or re-read the Declaration of Independence and hiss at King George III.

SPEAKER

Our speaker was Rotarian Paul Wagner and the topic was  a June service event in Chinle AZ.  The event was organized by Debbie Wilde of the RC of Glenwood Springs CO and Chinle Planting Hope (CPH), a 503 (c)(3) based in Chinle AZ.  Their purpose is
"We are committed to working together to bring hope and empowerment
to families and communities on the Navajo Nation"

In Chinle, the CPH has a bookmobile, a community volunteer program, a bicycle repair shop, a community garden, and a thrift store.  The weekend activities included repairing roofs, planting the garden, organizing the donations for the thrift store and cataloging new book donations for the bookmobile.

4 from our club participated.  Paul and Sue, and Rotarian Phil Hagen and his wife Laurie.  They were in Chinle the weekend of June 6-8.  There may be another opportunity to help during this fall (Sept or Oct weekend) to work on a building for their Imagination Station, a STEM based learning area for the kids in the county.

Paul noted this would be a great opportunity for our club to partner with the Glenwood Springs club to help our Navajo neighbors on an ongoing basis. He will keep us up to date on the dates where we can go to Chinle and provide service above self.

Announcements and Other News

golf fundraiser

Thom Von Hapsburg noted the golf event is 2 weeks!  We have all the large sponsors filled up.  This is the last week for hole sponsors ($250) to sign up as time is needed to get the signs printed.  There are 48 golfers signed up so far and room for another 18 foursomes.  If you can't golf, you can always sign up for just dinner!
