A big shout out to Rotarian Michael Casey for his dedication and hard work with our youth activities.  This month Michael helped the NAU Rotaract Club to complete their project to provide hygiene packages to homeless people.  Thanks for all you do Michael!

Today's Meeting
Acting President Vaughan Winborne called the 21st meeting of the Rotary year to order at 12:00.  The Pledge was led by Mike Hosking.  Hoppy led us in song, choosing “Singing in the Rain” as a reflection on today’s weather.
Eric Walden spent a few moments educating us on the Five Rotary Avenues of Service – Club, Vocational, Community, International and New Generations.
Vaughan inducted Chris Verrill as our newest member.  Although new to both Flagstaff and our Club, Chris is a Rotary veteran having been a Rotarian for 19 years, most recently in Beijing.
Michael Casey updated us on the Rotaract hygiene kit project which has been completed.  Thanks to all who helped secure donations and who helped package these kits.
Speaker Ken Lamm, Board Chairman of High Country Humane was introduced by Steve.  In addition to providing the best care possible for the shelter animals (which includes ALL animals), they believe in working together with the community, and value bringing more people into the shelter as volunteers and supporters.  They are working on developing a Vet Tech program with Coconino Community College.  In 2017 Second Chance Center for Animals closed, and the founders donated the land and facility to Coconino County.  In 2018 the contract to run this facility was granted to High Country Humane.
The 4 Way Test was led by Trish and the meeting was adjourned at 1:00.  Next meeting is May 21, when Kaeli Wells from the City of Flagstaff Sustainability Program will be our speaker.
Thanks to Frank, Millie, Carla, Chris, Vaughan, Tonya, Mike, Trish and Hoppy who volunteered their time after the meeting to staple info cards onto approximately 1500 bags for the USPS “Stamp Out Hunger” Campaign.
Rotary Being Social
On April 30, 16 Rotarians and friends met at Casa Duarte for a Taco Tuesday social.  We were without Hoppy and Eric, but still managed to sing a somewhat lame version of Happy Birthday to Steve Cervantes.  Join us Monday, May 13 at Little America for $5 Burger Night.  RSVP to Rick to ensure enough seats.

Acting President Vaughan Winborne presents Ken Lamm with "Clifford's Good Deeds" to be presented by the club to the Flagstaff Family Food Center children's library in honor of Mr. Lamm speaking to us today.
