Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin! We continue to meet on Zoom, but we hope our our meetings will be in person again before summer.
This week's program
President Carla called the 12th meeting of the Rotary year to order at 12:00pm.  The Pledge was led by Paul Wagner. President Carla  introduced all of our visiting Rotarians and honored guests.  Visiting Rotarians were former DG David Simmer and Filip Boelen from the Steamboat, CO club.  Other honored guests were Gina Byers- a guest of Chris, and former club member Rick Smith.
Eric Walden shared a Rotary Moment, based on the nature of "December traditions around the world " noting that Rotarians celebrate service.
Mike Williams remarked the Salvation Army bell ringing was a wintry, blustery success.  Jeremy from the Salvation Army appreciated our volunteer efforts.
Mike also reminded the members that the gifts for the Adopt A Family are due at the Salvation Army on the 21st.  They should not be wrapped, and the family name and recipient should be tagged on the gift.
Tonya Watson brought her slate for next year's officers up for a vote.  The new slate was approved unanimously by voice vote.
The Interact Club is working on an ongoing project called Crutches for Africa.  They had a very successful day collecting mobility devices Saturday, December 12th. They will need a place to store what is collected and produced through the end of the project.
Paul offered twenty Happy Bucks in honor of the anniversary of his in-laws.  Thanks, Paul!
Paul Wagner initiated a 5 minute breakout session within the group.  The club was split into groups of 4-5 and we were encouraged to talk!
After we were brought back into the single group, Paul discussed the results of the October survey.  For the next quarter, we will continue to meet on ZOOM for the safety of the members.  This will be addressed again by the board during the 3rd Quarter.  Everyone is hoping we can get back to meeting in person - thank you for your patience!
Chad introduced our guest speaker - Colton Cagle, President of the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA).  He was the Interact District Governor in 2018-19.  Prior to Covid 19, RYLA was a four day physical camp.  Its purpose is to have a positive impact High School student life through exposure to Rotary ideals and activities.
There are typically are 3 in-person RYLAs during the school year. Each 3-4 day camp includes leadership training, ethical decision making, service projects, and the Rotary areas of focus. The objective is to push the students out of their comfort zones.  Since Covid, RYLA had to be translated into an online format for safety. The good news is, anyone can attend at no cost! There is another online RYLA camp scheduled for February, so tell any High School students that you know about this great program.  Hopefully, we will soon be back to in-person RYLA as well.
After a question/answer period, Colton  led us in the Four Way Test, and we adjourned at 1:00 pm.
