Today's Meeting
President Jeff thanks Beverly Stearns for her presentation.
President Jeff called the 23rd Rotary meeting of the year to order at 12:04pm.  The Pledge was led by Jeremy.  Eric Walden led us in a verse of “Clementine.”  After a moment of silence, guest Will Robinson, Flagstaff resident and former Sedona Rotary member, and guest Sheryl Dawson were introduced.
Eric Walden give us a brief history of the Rotary banner exchange tradition.  Please let President Jeff know if you will be travelling and would like a Flagstaff banner to present to the club you visit.
President Jeff announced the Northland Hospice Run and Walk for Life event will be held Saturday, June 22, at 6am.  They are looking for volunteers to direct traffic, register runners and hand out water.  Let Mike Hosking know if you are able to volunteer.
Coconino County Teacher of the Year, Beverly Stearns was introduced by Steve.  Beverly teaches band and choir at Williams High School.  She is appreciative of all the Williams Rotary Club does for the students, including sending a student to RYLA each year and sponsoring scholarships.  Many of her students come from difficult home situations and have to receive the support they need from school.  Through the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) students are taught how to behave in class and have seen grades go up!  Of the 42 graduates this year, 12 have received full ride scholarships to NAU.  Her dedication and passion for teaching and her students is obvious.
Frank led us in the 4 Way Test and the meeting was adjourned at 12:56pm.  Join us on June 18 when our speaker will be Heidi Hansen, Flagstaff Community Vitality Director.

President Jeff called the meeting to order at 12:00.  Vaughan led the Pledge of Allegiance.  Hoppy led the group in singing “America the Beautiful”.  Three guests were introduced, including a Rotarian from Carlsbad, NM who has relocated to Flagstaff.
Eric Walden gave the Rotary moment.  The six areas of Rotary include health care.  Rotary believes that health care is everyone’s right.  The organization battles numerous diseases around the world with an emphasis on prevention.
President Jeff announced we have two new Paul Harris Fellows to award club members.  Neither were present so they will be awarded at a later meeting.
Frank introduced the featured speaker, Kaeli Wells, Flagstaff Open Space and Outreach Coordinator.  They manage 3,000 acres of space.  The Open Space Volunteer Program currently has 22 volunteer stewards who function much like a ranger.  They must donate 20 hours of service annually.  Their efforts are focused on community engagement, correcting damage (such as graffiti in Picture Canyon), and reporting hazardous behavior.  The group also holds volunteer events open to everyone such as Wednesday Weed Walks and every other Thursday volunteers work on preservation activities.
Whereas the meeting had time to spare, we went around the table sharing personal updates in a time of fellowship.
