Rotary Club of Flagstaff
Meeting Recap

June 4, 2024

This was the 23nd meeting of the 102nd Rotary Year for the Rotary Club of Flagstaff.

We had 5 members in house, 1 visiting Rotarian, and 1 guest - Kamil sent Cindy LaCasse to visit.

Our Speaker was John Vankat.  John is a forest ecologist working on a project to reveal past ecological changes on the landscape through repeat photography.  His presentation on finding the spot where historical photographs had been taken and identifying how the landscape had changed was fascinating.  They are compiled in a book called "Flagstaff Through the Lens of Time".

The thought of the day was from Henry James
  • “Summer afternoon... summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”

Organization needs

Our merry band has opportunities for you!  We still have openings for next year's board.  We don't have a Rotary club if we don't have a Secretary and Treasurer.  Contact President Laura to volunteer starting in July.
  • The Secretary would be responsible for attending the club executive meetings and writing up the notes.
  • The Treasurer is responsible for the (1) light bookkeeping and quarterly invoices in the QB system, nad (2) monitoring the PO BOX and depositing checks, lunch cash, and Happy Bucks.  This could be split between 2 people.
  • The Membership Chair is responsible for organizing our efforts to attract new members and leading the initiation ceremony.
  • The Meeting newsletter chair is responsible for this document - attending the meeting and communicating with the club on what happened at the meetings
