Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin! Find out who our upcoming speakers are, what we covered in today's meeting and any other scheduled events.
14 Members and 5 visiting Rotarians joined us today.
This week's program
President Jeff called the 5th meeting of the Rotary year to order at 12:04.  The Pledge was led by Chris.  In spite of a Notre Dame football win, Hoppy led us in the chorus of “When Irish Eyes are Smiling.”  President Jeff welcomed 4 visitors today:  Chad Taylor, a Kingman physician who resides here in Flagstaff, and returning visitors Will Robinson, formerly of the Sedona Rotary, and Steve and Mary Ann Colf from Santa Clarita Rotary, now recently relocated to Flagstaff.
Carla reminded us to sign up for our work project at the Flagstaff Family Food Center on September 28.  Also, our food drive will continue September 17; bring your non perishable items to the meeting and they will be delivered to FFFC.  And don’t forget to join us on Thursday, September 5 at 5pm, at Flagstaff Brewing Company when $1 from each pint purchase will be donated to FFFC.
Lee presented an Australia District 9640  banner he received from two Rotarians he home hosted during the recent Friendship Exchange.  Carla presented a banner from her former Truckee club she had the pleasure of re-visiting.
Carla started Happy Bucks with $20 for meeting Rick’s granddaughters on her recent trip to Truckee (Rick’s daughter is married to the son of Carla’s friend!)  Hoppy was $10 happy for Alabama’s 42 – 3 opening win over Duke and Trish was equally happy for Washington State’s 58 – 7 victory over New Mexico State.  Rick said there was no football team where he went to college, but donated $10 for being voted the #1 Party School anyway!
Steve introduced Tiffany Antol, Planning Director for the City of Flagstaff.  The Community Development Division provides services including residential and commercial permitting, planning, code compliance, housing options and neighborhood and transportation options.  Monthly development status reports detailing all construction in Flagstaff can be downloaded at flagstaff.az.gov/3474.  Anybody else excited for a new Sprouts????
Chris was the $40 winner of this years first 50/50 raffle.  Coincidentally, he will be our speaker on September 17, when we will learn about the Beijing Rotary Club and the differences from our Club.
The 4 Way Test was led by Paul, and the meeting was adjourned at 12:59.
