Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin!  Tonight was our First Annual Charter Night, to celebrate the 99th Anniversary of our Charter.  We continue to meet on Zoom, but we hope our 100th birthday will be in person!
This week's program
President Carla called the 11th meeting of the Rotary year to order at 12:03.  The Pledge was led by Chad. President Carla kicked off the Charter Night celebration by introducing all of our visiting Rotarians and honored guests.  Visiting Rotarians were DG Elizabeth Mahoney and Filip Boelen from the Steamboat, CO club.  Other honored guests were Jasmine Ackerman - Interact President; Sue Wagner, Barbara Williams, Rosemary Hopkins,  Steve Cervantes, and former club members Craig Roberts and Jim Dorman.
Eric Walden shared a Rotary Moment, based on the nature of "coming together".  Then he introduced current Interact President, Jasmine Ackerman.  She shared that there are currently 10 members (up from three last year), and the projects they had been working on.  On the afternoon of December 12, at FALA, they will be collecting mobility devises under the banner of Crutches for Africa.
Since this meeting is mostly a fellowship celebration, Paul next broke us out into different "rooms" so we could have a conversation with a few of our friends.  After five minutes, we came back to the main meeting.  PDG Tonya introduced our guest speaker - DG Elizabeth Mahoney. She shared a personal story about how a long-forgotten Rotary connection recently took care of her family in a time of tragedy.  She then presented two awards to our club for last year's participation in foundation giving.  She then proceeded to award Eric Wolverton his PH+2 award.
To celebrate our 99th birthday, President Carla invited some long-time club members, past and present to share some thoughts about where we have been as a club.  Jim Dorman, Craig Roberts, Jeff Ross and Hoppy shared some Rotary moments, then Hoppy lead us in the singing of Happy Birthday, while we all blew out the candles on our cupcakes - provided by the Taylors. Thanks, Megan and Chad!
Tonya presented her slate for next year's officers, to be voted on at our December 15 meeting.  Mike Williams asked for help with our December service projects.  We have adopted two families and need Rotarians to shop for gifts for them.  We also need several more bell ringers for December 12 at Sam's Club.
Eric Wolverton led us in the Four Way Test, and we adjourned at 7:05.
